Choosing Your Domain Name  E-mail

domain-registrantsYour domain name will be your online brand. If you already have an ongoing business in the "brick-and-mortar" world, registering a domain with a similar name should be straightforward.  (If it isn't, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll help.)

If you want a fresh brand for your Internet presence, choose a name that is easy for visitors to remember and hard to misspell.  Shorter is better.

Decide whether you want a descriptive name (such as HaikuGallery.com,  DollCollectors.org, SuperChef.us) or a more "brandable" name (such as  Trupod.com,  Google.com,  Ebay.com).

Avoid descriptive names that contain puns, misspellings, or words that have more than one correct spelling — unless you are prepared to register all possible variations.  Avoid names with hyphens, unless the hyphen is present in the dictionary's version of that word.

If no suitable domain is available for registration, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  We are a domain broker as well as a registrar.  Describe your domain requirements and budget.  We will track down what you're looking for.

Protecting Your Good Name

Your domain name is your online brand. Use domain registrations to protect your revenue, reputation, and customer trust online:

An Ounce of Prevention

Prevent illicit domain abuse — such as cybersquatting and domain kiting.  Anyone can register domain names that are similar to yours, typos of yours, or a commentary on yours.  They can use these to embarrass you or to siphon off your customers.

Use defensive domain registrations to block others from exploiting domain names associated with your brand.  Protecting your brand requires that you proactively seize opportunities.

An ounce of prevention (domain registration) is worth a bus-load of lawyers later. Don't let one unscrupulous competitor, one disgruntled employee, or one unhappy customer undermine your brand and revenues. Protect yourself via preemptive domain registrations.

You'll need to acquire and manage domain names efficiently. Trupod provides the tools for this.
It's a Small World

globalAcquire domain status worldwide.

If your business crosses borders or may someday cross borders be proactive. Trupod...

  • lets you register the largest possible collection of country-specific domain extensions;
  • lets you authorize multiple employees to securely register and manage your active and defensive domains from any location
  • provides you with a seamless consolidated view of all your domains and the country-specific rules and requirements for each.

Global domains can even help a domestic business. Generic names in less popular extensions (like sweaters.ws, seashells.ws) are still available, and get ranked higher in search engines than non-generic names with similar content and backlinks. Put topical websites there to generate leads.

Own All the Leads

Use domains to generate leads.
Smart businesses invest in generic domain names such as soup.com in addition to their own brand names. Large numbers of customers visit generic domains by direct typing, instead of using search engines. For example: MaytagRefrigeratorParts.com, HandmadeJewelry.com.

A generic domain name is helpful even if it has a rarely typed-in extension; search engines rank them higher than other domains with similar content and backlinks.

If your product is in a small niche industry, or if you want a domain extension that emphasizes your presence in a particular country, you may find useful generic domains still available to register.

The best generic domain names are the ones ending in .com. Most are no longer available for registration, but Trupod can help you acquire them on the secondary market.
